24 Union Park, Boston, MA 02118
Union Park is the best-preserved residential square in Boston’s South End. Filled with trees and encircled with a cast-iron fence and stone fountains, the elliptical residential park follows the example of Louisburg Square on Beacon Hill, and the lotus motif on the fence is a replica of the one there. Designed by Ellis S. Chesborough in 1850, lots began to be auctioned in 1851, and by 1859 all the houses on the park were completed. *
24 Union Park underwent a comprehensive renovation in 2020-21. Carefully built and designed for modern living, the home features the very latest technology, yet still embraces its rich 19th-century heritage. A massive glass curtain wall was added to the rear parlor where the glorious custom kitchen is located. From here you can step out onto a large private deck, which is just one of several options to enjoy a drink or meal, en plein air, in this magnificent home. An oversized, heated garage was added during the renovation, along with an elevator that whisks you from the mudroom to the roof deck.
There are six total bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and two powder rooms. In addition to more formal living and entertaining rooms, there are flexible spaces for a den/library, office, and a private gym. A temperature-controlled custom wine cellar is also included. Igarn addition to the primary residence, a separate two-bedroom, two-bathroom auxiliary apartment, with a private entrance under the stoop, was added.
